Gabriele Tagliaventi (born 1960 in Bologna, Italy) is a main figure of the movement for the European Urban Renaissance and the New Urbanism in Europe. Coordinator of the EU Program on medium-sized cities in 1993–1996, visiting professor at the University of Miami-School of Architecture in 1995–1997. Authors of various projects of architecture and town-planning, has received the 1st Prize at the International Competition for the Reconstruction of the Laeken Street in Bruxelles (1989), one of the five 1st Prizes at the International Competition for the Reconstruction of the Warsaw City Core (1992), the 1st Prize at the International Competition for the Reconstruction of the Marsham Street area in London (1996). Among his main works are the redevelopment of a mixed-use block in the Urban periphery of Bologna, Zanolini Street (1988–93), the construction of 2 mixed-use buildings in Laeken Street, Bruxelles, the new Urban Neighborhood "Città Nuova" in Alessandria (with Leon Krier), the redevelopment of a mixed-use urban block in Valenza, Italy, the project for a group of mixed-use buildings in the Quartier am Tacheles in Berlin Mitte, the project for the completion of the Historical centre of Piove di Sacco, Italy, the project for 2 urban blocks in the new town of Val d’Europe, France, the new urban centre at Magny-le-Hongre, the Golf Village at Bailly* Romainvilliers Since 1992 Gabriele Tagliaventi is the curator of the "A Vision of Europe" Triennale International Exhibition of Bologna and of the "Urban Renaissance" and “The Other Modern” travelling exhibitions in Istanbul, Turkey Oslo, Norway Bruxelles, Belgium San Sebastian, Spain Lisbon, Portugal Berlin, Germany Strasbourg, France in 1996–2001. Gabriele Tagliaventi (Bologna, 1960) è un architetto e urbanista italiano, una delle figure principali del movimento per il Rinascimento Urbano e il New Urbanism europeo. Attività Professore di Architettura Tecnica presso l'Università di Ferrara, è direttore dei progetti di A Vision of Europe e membro del Comitato direttivo di INTBAU. Dopo essersi laureato presso l'Istituto di Architettura e Urbanistica dell'Università di Bologna nel 1985, è stato ricercatore CNR presso la Technische Universität München nel 1987-88 e Coordinatore del Programma dell'Unione Europea Medium-Size Cities nel 1993-1996. È risultato vincitore dell'International Competition for the Reconstruction of the Laeken Street in Bruxelles (1989), dell'International Competition for the Reconstruction of the Marsham Street area in London (1996) e ha ottenuto uno dei 5 Primi Premi ex-aequo all'International Competition for the Reconstruction of the Warsaw City Core (1992), oltre al CNU Awards 2003 per il Quartier am Tacheles di Berlino coordinato da Andrés Duany ed Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk. Si deve a Gabriele Tagliaventi l'istituzione della Triennale Internazionale di Architettura e Urbanistica A Vision of Europe di Bologna e la cura di numerose mostre itineranti di architettura e urbanistica che hanno divulgato in Europa le nuove tendenze eco-urbane ispirate al Libro Verde sull'Ambiente Urbano della Commissione Europea (Madrid, 1991). Tra le varie esposizioni, si ricordano Urban Renaissance e The Other Modern a Istanbul, Oslo, Bruxelles, San Sebastian, Lisbona, Berlino, Strasburgo nel periodo 1996-2001, oltre che della mostra internazionale The Ecological Alternative to Sub-Urbanization organizzata a Bologna nel 2004 in collaborazione con la Soprintendenza Regionale ai Beni Architettonici dell'Emilia-Romagna. Gabriele Tagliaventi est une parmi les principales figures du Mouvement pour la Renaissance Urbaine Européenne et le Nouvel Urbanisme. Professeur d'Architecture à l'Université de Ferrare, il est directeur de la revue internationale A&C INTERNATIONAL et auteur des nombreuses publications sur l'Architecture et l'Urbanisme parmi lesquelles: " A Vision of Europe" (avec Liam O'Connor), Alinea, 1992; "Renaissance Urbaine", Grafis 1996; "L'Autre Modernité", Dogma 2000; "New Civic Architecture. The Ecological Alternative to Sub-Urbanization", Alinea 2004; toutes avec la préface de Son Altesse Royale le Prince de Galles. Il a gagné de nombreuses concours internationales d'Architecture à Bruxelles, Varsovie, Londres, Berlin, etc.: le Concours International pour la Reconstruction de la Rue de Laeken à Bruxelles, 1989; une de 5 prix ex-aequo dans le Concours International pour la Reconstruction du Centre de Varsovie, 1992; le Concours International pour la Reconstruction de Marsham Street à Londres; le Concours International sur invitation organisé par Fundus Group pour le Quartier am Tacheles à Berlin, 2000; de nombreuses concours sur invitation organisés par Euro-Disney dans les villes de Serris, Bailly-Romainvilliers, Magny-le-Hongre. Designé en tant que Consultant pour l'Architecture du President de la République du Kazakhstan en 2007, il a obtenu ainsi le Prix du Congress for the New Urbanism 2003 (CNU Charter Awards) pour le Quartier am Tacheles à Berlin. A partir du 1996 il a été inclus dans "L'Histoire de l'Architecture Occidentale" de David Watkin (Barnes & Noble, New York, 1996).
