GARDEN CITIES |

This book aims to put together the mosaic of a sometimes equivocal and misguided reality, not only by comparing the moralistic principles of skillful partisans of happiness, but also by giving basic examples of garden cities, constituting separate social entities with marked characteristics. They are distinct from both artisan and worker villages - however green they may be - and existing areas to be found in every modernist city. For the first time European and American scholars are examining together theoretical and practical experiences, critically analyzing designs, projects, and theoretical proposals, in the attempt to put all the pieces of this mosaic back together again. |
