Dès que le gouvernement italien a décidé de soutenir le plan directeur par la province de Bologne pour construire une nouvelle autoroute en tant que Nord By-pass autour de Bologne, l'ancien autoroute des années 1950 Est-Ouest Autoroute devient obsolète et peut être ré-utilisé comme une ressource pour démarrer une processus de régénération.
